and that, I'm afraid is where the comparison ends. as Flavio says above, they are both set in "space". I've played most of the X series (I didn't play Reunion or Albion Prelude or Rebirth) so I'll comment here on comparing the two (as I was going to do it anyway ) Usually what makes you win a dogfight is choosing the right weapons, doing more planned maneuvers, and adopting more well thought tactics, not reaction times and flight ability, alhtough these also count. My next comparison thread was going to be E: D vs X-Rebirth. And I myself earn a lot of money protecting stations from several factions, serving as a kind of police, in the time between managinc my stations.ģ) It has its intense action moments, but due to the high hulls and shields and long duration of fights, I think it leans more to the strategic side. Maybe "missioning" could also be included as a fifth activity, because it's another way of earning money. I find it really well done in X Rebirth.Ģ) That's the 4 activities eMYNOCK said, but due to the enormous amount of freedom you have, there are many ways to perform each of them. Different types of stations, different distribution of species, different background, different resources to explore, different dangers, varied way of navigating, different types of ship and ship architectures. it is relatively up to date to the Main Game.ġ) The 9 systems are very distinct. (or even how to go from A to B in the shortest time possible). Or figure out how to gain the most Profit with minimum effort. manage your Fleets, your Stations, your Trader. to earn money, reputation and invest your money into Stations, Ships, Weapons or what ever you need. Build, Fight, Trade & Thinkīuild what ever you want, were you want.įight and protect your assets or Fight for Profit. In general the X Universe has only to offer 4 recurring Activities. Unlike Elite you can Build and own your own Stations and you can Produce your own comodities. you can own and command nearly everything else but you can not swap your ship. The fighting is much easier and more casual like compared to Elite.Īlso you will be restricted to only one Ship. The X Rebirth Universe (including all DLCs) is restricted to 9 Unique Systems (if i have counted correctly). Play the demo and test if XR is the game for you. Thanks in advance guys, I'm considering taking this sale to make the jump into X Rebirth but I decided it would be wiser to first probe the forums and get an idea of what to expect. Modern space sims in general have this problem from what I've seen, does X Rebirth do it better or is it rather more of the same in this matter?ģ) How is combat in X Rebirth? I found combat in E:D rather underwhelming (and somewhat repetitive), is combat in X Rebirth generally enjoyable? And is it rather fast-paced or slow-paced? Is this just my impression or is does the game effectively do it much better than E:D?Ģ) How is the gameplay variety in X Rebirth? In E:D you pretty much have 5/6 activities that you can do, people normally sticking to half of those because they're either the most profitable or less boring. Now from what I've seen of X Rebirth (screenshots etc.) I got the idea that the universe actually has personality and each part of it has its different look and feel. This for me is the ultimate dealbreaker in any space sim. Backgrounds and stars will look the same, stations will look the same and ships being sold will be the same. You can be in 2 different systems half a galaxy away and everything will look exactly the same in both. I would like to ask those who own X Rebirth whether the game would have what I'm looking for in these topics.ġ) The biggest one is that the entire universe looked the same. I own E:D with the DLC and while it kept me entertained for a couple hours I ended up getting bored pretty fast and giving up everytime I went back to it because of a couple of aspects in the game. Yes i know that one has a campaign and the other is an online sandbox so they aren't exactly comparable, but looking at both simply as space sims I would like to ask a few questions as the latest X Rebirth sale caught my eye.
